As a child growing up, I was taught that I was to be seen and not heard; therefore I listened. It was easy for me to listen. I had inherited huge ears – at least they certainly looked huge on my tiny, skinny body. Ears, like fingerprints, are unique to every person. I could not hide them under my fine hair. They always seemed to be poking through as a constant reminder that I was to listen.

I was drawn to the unconditional love of animals. It didn’t matter to them what I looked like. I could talk to them, and they would listen. We bonded with love and rnrespect for each other. They were my mirror and reflected back God’s love for us all.

Through living in the moment with animals, I have learned to love and have compassion for other people as I have listened to their life stories. God has also spoken, and I have heard Him in my heart tell me to act upon what I hear, so that he can be glorified. I am grateful for these unique ears, for it is through them that I have listened, acted, and received so many blessings.
