UroLift is a less invasive method for treating benign prostate enlargement (BPE), also called benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). Benign prostate enlargement is a medical condition in which the prostate gland is enlarged. This blocks the urethra (the duct that transfers urine from the bladder) and sometimes shrinks, resulting in difficulty in urine flow and causing various urine problems.   UroLift treats benign prostate enlargement permanently. It is a very effective procedure involving using a telescopic delivery device that is inserted into your urethra through the penis tip. The device is moved up to the blockage in the urethra. Once it reaches there, the doctor will place UroLift implants to elevate the enlarged prostate and hold the tissue. This helps to open up the blocked urethra and allows easy flow of urine.  You need first to consult your doctor about the symptoms. They may first try some medications to relieve the symptoms. If the medication fails to show any effect, then the doctor will proceed with the UroLift procedure. The doctor will first carry out the necessary evaluation involving physical examination and other treatments.  The procedure of Urolift® in Kingston provided by Dr. Jaspreet Singh, DO, is highly recognized. He is a trained men's health specialist who will guide you throughout the treatment and recovery while keeping your comfort in mind. Advantages of the UroLift Procedure:
  1. Offers long-lasting results and fast relief.
  2. Offers relief from urinary problems such as urinary incontinence, frequency.
  3. It is a minimally invasive type of procedure.
  4. UroLift is done without cutting and heating.
  5. There is no removal of prostate tissue.
  6. The recovery period is short, i.e., lasting only for a few days.
  7. UroLift does not affect sexual functions.
  8. No requirement for ongoing medications.
  9. The procedure is done using light sedation by giving local anesthesia.
  10. The treated individual can perform normal day-to-day activities in a few days.
  11. The affected individual may only require a single session.
  12. The patient, after treatment, can be in control of his urine flow and gains confidence as the quality of life increases.
Side-effects of UroLift UroLift procedures offer more minor side effects than other treatments used for benign prostate enlargement. There are some common side effects of UroLift that last about two to three weeks, including:
  • Sensitivity and burning sensation while urinating.
  • Sometimes, urination will be accompanied by pain.
  • There may be some lower pelvic pain.
  • Urgency incontinence for a few days.
  • Sometimes, the patient is allergic to local anesthesia.
  • Rare incidences of urinary tract infections.
  • A rare occurrence of bleeding during urination.
Report to your doctor or specialist if the side effects become severe and remain for a prolonged time.
