Hypertension, commonly known as high blood pressure generally refers to the disorder in which blood pressure remains abnormally high with a reading of 140/90 mm Hg or greater. This has become a regular medicinal complaint in recent days! In most of the cases, it has no proper symptoms or causes. Otherwise, the symptoms in chronic cases would be like headache, nose bleeding, nausea, vomiting and so on. Modern-day stress is the leading cause behind hypertension. Besides, too much intake of alcoholic beverages, tobacco, less physical activity, weight, etc are also responsible for increasing percentage of blood pressure patients.

The best way to control hypertension is the use of natural remedies. This is because most of the natural remedial measures are side-effect free as well inexpensive. Moreover, they can be found easily too. Therefore, let's now take a look at the available herbs that can help in treating the blood pressure problem naturally.

1. Garlic: Allium sativum or garlic is considered to be the best herb in treating high blood pressure. Its cloves contain a compound called Allicin, which has the amazing ability to lower blood pressure. Use of garlic as an herb will help in normal blood flow by widening arteries. However, too much use of garlic may be harmful; better consult a professional before applying it.

2. Ginger: Zingiber officinale or simply ginger is another popular herb that can help in reducing blood pressure. Use of fresh ginger is proven to be very effective in lowering cholesterol level in blood as well it soothes the muscles and blood vessels.

3. Hawthorn: Crataegus monogyna or hawthorn, like garlic, can also help in normal blood flow because of its ability to expand the arteries. It also plays a good role in the normal functioning of the heart.

4. Gingko Biloba: Another useful herb in treating hypertension is gingko biloba. Like the other herbs, it is also characterized by arterial dilation and therefore has a good effect in lowering blood pressure. Besides, it helps in the normal flow of blood in the heart as well in brain too.

5. Thankuni: Centella asiatica or popularly known as thankuni leaf, native to India, is another important herb that can reduce high blood pressure. It boosts the flow of oxygen and thus helps in the normalization of arterial pressure.

6. Aloe Vera: This is one of the popular names in the herb world, known for its role in strengthening arteries and blood vessels. It balances the blood circulation throughout the veins and also being adaptogenic it can help our body to raise its stress resistance power which is considered to be one of the key causes of hypertension.

Proper use of nutritional foods is also necessary along with the herbs. Weight and excessive fat being the reason of hypertension should be controlled with regular exercise. One must avoid the intake of alcoholic drinks as well smoking habit. Meditation will also be helpful if the cause of hypertension is stress. Last but not the least - one should always check their pressure graphs at regular intervals!
