Getting organization is something that is on almost everyone's "to-do" list. Unfortunately, busy lifestyles, family responsibilities and other commitments can often make it difficult to find the time you need in order to get the job done. If you are having problems finding enough time to develop and implement an organizational strategy in your home, perhaps the problem is that you are trying to do the entire job yourself. In reality, getting organized should be a task that the entire family shares together. When you share the work, it will get done faster, easier, and in a more pleasurable fashion. Plus, you'll also be assured of ending up with an organizational strategy that works well for everyone, not just yourself, because every family member will participate in developing the plan. If you'd like to try using a teamwork approach to help get your home organized once and for all, here are a few tips you can try.

Make a Chore List

Making a chore list is one of the easiest things you can do to help share household tasks between multiple people. Although it can initially take a little bit of time to write down and organize all the chores that need to be performed on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, it can definitely be time well spent. Once the tasks are clearly written down, it will be much easier to divide them equally and fairly between family members. Plus, since they are written on a chart, there's less of a chance that people will forget to do their chores.

Chores lists are also a great way to get even the youngest family members involved. Small children in particular seem to love marking chores as "complete" on a chart, especially if you give them some fun and colorful stickers to use. In fact, teenagers and even adults might enjoy their household tasks a little more if they can use fun markers or stickers to mark off their completed chores.

Set a Family Goal

Having an organizational goal that everyone is working towards can be another great way to utilize teamwork. There just seems to be something about a goal that helps people focus on the "big picture." Focusing on a larger goal can make all the small tasks and chores seem more meaningful and important. For example, while cleaning out the basement might seem boring, having a goal of creating a fun family room in the newly cleaned basement can make everyone's efforts seem more worthwhile.

Teamwork with Friends

In addition to using teamwork within your family, you can also use it among your friends. Almost everything seems just a little easier when you take a teamwork approach. If you are dreading a particular household chore, it's likely that at least one of your friends has the same dreaded chore on his or her "to-do" list. Why not share the work and get the task done quicker? You could volunteer to help your friend with their task, and then they could help you in return. You'll have more fun if you have somebody else to work with. Plus, you'll be more likely to stick with the job and get it done.
