In 2009, during the economic turmoil van prices were hit hard. 2010 has seen van prices bounce back, according to Manheim Remarketing’s latest analysis; trade used van values increased by £373 to £4,067 compared to 2009, while average age of vans in Canterbury fell by six months to 50 months and mileage decreased by 6,299 to 70,556 miles. Used van prices peaked at £4,416 in April and remained strong and relatively steady from July until the end of the year. According to the research carried out by Manheim, sub-three tonne large vans recorded the biggest rise in average values last year - up 17.7% (642) to £4,274. The used van market in 2010 did very well, all segments within the sector reported positive price increases except for small panel vans. There was 2.6% decrease which equates to a decrease £106 down to £3,895. Large panel vans, fewer than three tonnes were up 1.3% to £4,274, Tippers rose by a sharp 7.3% (£438) to £6,415 and box vans and Luton vans increased 1.4% to £6811. Models falling in value included car vans – like the Fiesta van, down 8% to £2,252 and large panel vans of more than three tonnes, which were down 4.2% to £3,794.
