With a plethora of landscapes combined with soaring urban vistas, it's no wonder that photographing Japan is so popular among photographers. Sometimes, though, your expectations don't always match up with the consequent pictures. You may not even know where to start. If this is the case, keep reading for tips to Japanese photos you can enjoy. Many photographers like to go to Japan while autumn is in full swing. There are no major holidays and far fewer crowds, making it easier to photograph. Others like the spring season because of the blooming cherry blossoms. Either season is great for a comfortable temperature but this can vary depending on where you go in the country. Obviously, the most important aspect of having a good photography experience is to pack the right equipment. Multiple lenses may be great for being able to move to different venues but are they going to be convenient to haul around all day? Do you have the proper lens for the places you are going to? If you plan in advance, you won't be disappointed by the results. No matter what kind of photography you are interested in, there is a place in Japan for it. For urban or street photography, many photographers start in Tokyo. Nara and Kyoto are slower paced gems. If lovely or diverse landscapes are what you want to capture, there are plenty of destinations to try out, from mountainous Hokkaido to subtropical Okinawa. All along the way, keep an eye out for candid moments or even opportunities to take pictures of food. What you're going to see may the highlight of your trip but the things you spot on the way make for excellent photographs, as well. Don't forgo an opportunity to capture a candid moment just because it's not what you were intending to photograph. Even it if seems somewhat boring once you take it, keep it. It may be a personal favorite later. When photographing a temple or shrine or well-known landmark, it's okay to do what everyone else has done. You may want to try for some unique angles but trying to make every single picture one of these can simply be frustrating and leave you with nothing to show for it. Enjoy the beauty of the country and let the uniqueness come to you. While the Japanese are very polite and may not seem adverse to having their picture taken, be considerate. Use their own etiquette and language, if possible, so you don't appear obnoxious. Ask for permission whenever possible. Another thing to be sure you pay attention to are signs at public sites. Some places like temples and museums prohibit tripods while other places such as an office or public landmark may not want photographers around at all. There are various reasons for this but it is wise to keep an eye out for them so as not to offend. Photographing Japan can be an exciting and rewarding experience for any photographer. A different highlight on a certain place or person may just be the key to an amazing piece of art.
