The world has started working on developing ways to bring down solar modules prices. Currently, the production process to make cells and panels is far too costly to be implemented by everyone in domestic use. This is because silicon (the basic element used in manufacturing photoelectric modules) is rare in its pure form. Even though compounded silicon constitutes about 30% of the earth’s crust, the pure crystalline silicon necessary to make it into solar lanterns and home electricity generation units is rather expensive to culture. New methods are being implemented to make them more commercial, but the process is rather slow.
In the age of science, it is sad that while other technology is progressing greatly, solar home lights are yet to light enough homes. Government bodies and international ecological agencies are making all efforts to ensure that small solar panels are available in every home. However, the journey is still rather nascent in its progress. While people all over the planet demand more energy, and industries seek faster solutions; the sun remains providing its endless source of power without it being harvested well enough. While cars took only 50 odd years to turn from steam to fossil fuels, mankind is yet to make the power of the sun run cities and factories as commonly as necessary in these times.
This is where the work of reducing solar modules prices is taking a back seat. If more companies don’t undertake the manufacturing responsibilities required, the energy crisis will soon get out of hand. Fossil fuel prices continue to soar as the world energy crisis is at its peak. The last 100 years of mechanical development has been fueled on petroleum, coal, and natural gasses. Today, we know that it won’t last out another three or four decades. This is why solar street lighting systems were installed in urban – rural projects across Asia. India, China, Singapore, Japan, and many other counties of Europe implemented such systems. America does have huge electricity generation projects installed, but as the most developed nation on the planet, their requirements sill exceed the energy harvested currently.
We need to implement more than just solar street lighting systems today. Industries have already started massive projects to undertake their energy responsibilities. From installing photoelectric panels in place of glass in their buildings, to having large setups of photovoltaic modules – most large corporations are doing their part. With government tax subsidies and international funds rolling in for implementing green measures, they also have a deeper interest than ecological concern. On a domestic front, solar home lights can save you anywhere from 30% to 70% of your annual electricity bill.
To involve yourself into the group of people who have conce
for their planet, you should implement things more practically than just concern. Using solar lanterns instead of torches or flash lights is one of the simplest ways you can do your little part. The sun will continue giving us all the energy we need – we merely need to implement it. Small solar panels in your home can provide you with continuous free electricity as long as the weather is clear. During the night or in cloudy bad weather, these systems even store up their excess charge for later usage.
