Many mistakenly equate banner stands with trade shows and other corporate events. But banner stands have many applications for retail, restaurants or any other consumer business. As the price of banner stands gets less expensive, many are using banners as a part of their overall signage and promotional marketing.

Banner marketing (also known as in-place media) is a means to attract customers. Retail and restaurants in particular rely on walk-in traffic for a majority of their business. While overhead and window signage has been a staple for centuries, successful business owners understand the benefits of supplemental signage to draw in more foot traffic and ultimately more business. This is where banner stands can be deployed.

Any business with a storefront can benefit from the use of a banner stand. Think for a moment about a potential customer walking down the sidewalk. Most of what is in view is other pedestrians. And whilst window displays and signage are important, a passer-by may only give it a glance as they stroll past one's shop. A well-designed double sided banner placed outside is far more noticeable and someone walking will have far more time to take note of the message. This is important for retailers who depend on impulse shopping and restaurants that rely on walk in customers.

For sidewalk applications one must consider the type of banner used. Since the stand will need to be put out and taken in daily, an easy to deploy system is important. This is where a pull up banner system is most convenient. This type of stand has a base which houses the banner graphic which is on a roller. One simply rolls out the banner graphic to set-up the system. It literally only takes a moment. The base is heavy so it does not tip easily which is also an important consideration. One can also find pull up banners that feature interchangeable cartridges so the banner graphic can be updated easily. This can be useful to keep up with seasonal sales or updating menu items.

Another use of banner stands is inside one's shop or restaurant. In retail one of the basic business strategies is to get shoppers to wonder all the aisles and areas of a store. More product and item visibility means more sales. Banners allow one to highlight different products, sales, promotions and draw shoppers to certain sections of the shop. Many experts recommend placing sales items toward the back of the shop in order to expose shoppers to more of the store's product offerings. To be noticeable, a large and colourful indoor banner is perfect.

Restaurants can also benefit from using banner stands indoors. It is a great way to promote menu items while customers are waiting for a table. It can also be used to promote upcoming events and specials as well. In this application a banner stand that supports multiple graphics is important. An X or L-type stand is a good choice as the banner graphic is secured by means of a simple channel system. This makes change of the messaging easy and a new banner can be purchased at a reasonable cost. Savvy restaurateurs know the importance of promoting new menu items, promotions and specials to help retain customers and build loyalty. These same uses apply to many other businesses, too. Banks, petrol stations, bookstores and the like can benefit from innovative uses of banner stands.
