If you have bacterial vaginosis, one thing that you may want to think about is hydrogen peroxide for bacterial vaginosis relief. After all, H2O2 is a natural substance. So, it isn't as likely to cause the problems that medications, especially antibiotics, can cause. The Good Bacteria: Bacterial vaginosis is a bacterial infection. That might make you assume that all bacteria are bad. However, that simply isn't the case. Yes, the BV bacteria are bad. However, the bacteria that usually live in your vagina are actually quite healthy and useful. That's a big reason that many people find antibiotics to be lacking, when it comes to treating BV. Antibiotics kill all bacteria. So, they will probably clear up a BV infection. However, they will also kill off good bacteria, which would otherwise protect your body. So, taking antibiotic treatments can often leave your body open to even worse invasions, infections and problems. Hydrogen Peroxide And Good Bacteria: There's a very interesting relationship between H2O2 and the good bacteria that live in your vagina, which are called lactobacillus bacteria. Lactobacillus actually make H2O2. In addition to that, they also make lactic acid. The hydrogen peroxide is important because it keeps bad bacteria from attaching to the uterine walls and the lactic acid is important because it keeps the pH levels of the uterus too acidic for bad bacteria to live and grow. Why BV Occurs: If the delicate balance in the vagina is somehow tipped and the pH levels change in favor of the bad bacteria, that is when a BV infection can take hold. That's also when H2O2 can come in handy. If you reintroduce it to your vagina then it can prevent bad bacteria from really taking hold. That will allow good bacteria numbers to increase again and start to reverse the process, tipping the balance back in your favor. The Hydrogen Peroxide Douche Process: A hydrogen peroxide douche is fairly easy to mix. You just have to add a little H2O2 into some water and get yourself some sort of douching bag or kit to use to administer the solution. Then, you can simply douche with the H2O2 mixture in an effort to start restoring order to your vagina. The problem is that it's not necessarily a good idea to douche too often. Yet, there seems to be a bit of a debate about how often is too often. You shouldn't use the douching mixture more than twice a day for 7 days. Some people suggest using it only once a day for three days, though. So, that's a bit of a difference. The best thing to do is ask your gynecologist for advice about how often would be acceptable for you. Finally, keep in mind that using hydrogen peroxide for bacterial vaginosis relief is not necessarily going to work all on its own. You may find it necessary to make certain lifestyle changes or even start taking an herbal supplement to help things along. The best way to cure and prevent BV is to use a variety of natural treatment methods that can all work together.
