Orchid Leaves can be used to communicate is some way with your flowers because they can be giving you signals that something is wrong. Many times the leaves are the first thing to display symptoms of what is actually going on within your plant before you notice it. By looking at the leaves of any plant you will have the ability to find out what is going wrong and exactly how to correct or remedy the specific situation. In this article you will discover the many conditions that can occur with your orchid leaves and how simple it is to fix what you have or have not done.

Darker Colors are Appearing on Most of The Leaves

For some people various areas around the world will have very little light for plants to thrive in and is something you should consider when your leaves turn into a darker color. Light is something that most people are confused with when in fact it is totally easy. Filtered light should be provided but it must be enough to cover all your plants. If light is covering your plants but they are still darkly colored you should think about fluorescent lights in your home. This would make your orchid leaves turn into the proper color that will give them a much vibrant and healthier appearance.

Excessive Light Can Also Be a Problem

This will occur only when your leaves begin to turn yellow and reddish. A more popular reason why these plants tend to perish in your home will be the use of too much light. It can be easily avoidable as long as you know exactly how to filter the sunlight that enters your home or apartment. Using a curtain to block much of the damaging rays is the best and easiest way to avoid having stunted plants and ones that will have burns on the orchid leaves. Another reason for yellowish plants could be the nutrition that is contained within the soil. Nitrogen that is not present in the soil could cause leaves to turn yellow. Add a little bit of nitrogen to the plant to see if this is the reason. Try the above tactics to avoid having your plants turn yellow or reddish.

Black Sections that are Appearing on Your Plant

If you are noticing sections of the orchid leaves are turning black or are beginning to rot this may be the first signs of a bacterial infection that you must act quickly. Cutting out the leaf that is infected should be the first priority in order to contain the disease or bacteria within just one leaf. If they are on multiple leaves you will need to remove them as well to prevent the bacteria from spreading. Place the leaves in a plastic bag and dispose of it quickly. Sometimes black spots are a result of leaf burn attributed by the sun.

As you have discovered in this article orchid leaves are very easy to read and you can make them good as new as long as the right knowledge is obtained.
