This form of direct marketing is much less expensive than many other types. Buying or having such cards printed up can be very economical, since there are fewer supplies such as paper and ink involved. In addition, mailing them can be less expensive than other types of brochures or mailers. For a realtor who has a limited budget, this can be very helpful to the bottom line. Since the message area of a card is small, it is important that one design the card for optimal space. One side generally has a picture or other image that will grab the reader's attention and encourage him to turn the card over. The second side needs to have a short but effective message that entices the reader to move to act in some way. One of the most effective ways to get a reader to take action is to give him a reason to do so. Sometimes, it can be beneficial to offer a freebie, a sale, discount or other type of offer that the reader is reluctant to pass up. In many cases, a reader will come in just for the freebie or other offer and end up becoming a great customer. It can also be of great benefit to set some type of time limit on the offer, so the reader takes action. This can serve to discourage those who might put the card away for later and then forget about it. In order for a reader to become a client, there must be some form of action, either a visit to the office, a phone call or checking one's website online. By encouraging readers to act, it can help move them closer to becoming clients. Using real estate postcards can be very advantageous if one takes the time to develop a good campaign. Using unique pictures and headlines can be a great way to draw a customer's attention to the message of the card. This can lead the recipient to make contact for more information, which is the best way to increase one's total customers.
