Your workforce management system contains a lot of vital information about your employees: who they are, when they are working and what times they should be working. Using this set of data, it is then simple to expand your time and attendance system into an access control system as well.

One way our clients do this is with biometric and fingerprint time and attendance system data collection devices. To enter an office building, store or manufacturing plant, an employee is required to scan their hand or fingerprint at the reader. All management of access controls is performed remotely, via our TC-1 software application. For instance, if an employee is terminated, HR can then, at the click of a button, from any location, revoke access to the employee without ever going near any data collection devices.

Going further, these devices can control access to various areas of a building. The fingerprint time and attendance system can restrict access based on security levels and based upon employee schedules. Again, all of these security rules can be changed instantly using the software, and then communicated to the devices in real-time. Also, by using biometrics and fingerprint readers with the time and attendance system, it completely validates the identity of those using the devices.

A few of our clients decided that they wanted to control access to more than just doors. In order to accommodate this request, we’ve developed a process of installing biometric devices on just about anything: safes, drug cabinets, machines, balers, compacters, forklifts and more. These organizations now have much greater protection of valuables, increased compliance with OSHA regulations, and, most importantly, better safeguarding their employees from unnecessary injury.

The next layer of expanding our fingerprint time and attendance system into a security system deals with notifications and auditing. The notifications happen in real-time. Key individuals can receive a text message or e-mail that a door has been open for more than a set period of time, i.e. one minute, or if an access point has been breached without authorization. Event notifications are extensively configurable so they can be set to best accommodate your unique environment.

Now that our software is capturing timekeeping data, as well as security data, detailed reports can show what happened, where it happened, when it happened and for how long it happened. This data can be used for basic audits, or to investigate suspicious activity.
