Take a look around the next time that you're out and about. What does everyone have in their hand? A cell phone! Smart phones and iPhones are taking over the world. You can use these to your advantage by participating in mobile marketing. When a person uses their phone more than anything else, it's the best format to get the word out on your company's products and services.

Mobile marketing companies are becoming more and more popular because the message to the cell phones work. Whether it's a basic text or using a QR code, the message comes across the phone and people will read the message within minutes. This is a lot more instant than commercials, ad space on the internet or billboards. Nothing else is as instantaneous or affordable as mobile marketing.

Think about all of the advantages to mobile advertising when people are getting the message almost as soon as you hit the send button. You can send a special out to your entire contact list about a happy hour, a sale or anything else that's going on that very night. If you are having a slow night, it takes a simple text to change people's minds and bring them into your business. It's the power of suggestion.

The key to making sure that mobile marketing is effective is to get your client list up. If you don't have cell phone numbers, then it's very ineffective. There are several ways that you can get people to sign up. The first is a QR code. You've likely seen these. It's the black and white bar code with the matrix design in it. You can have one created and coded and placed virtually anywhere - on the front of your building, the side of your car, flyers and anywhere else that you can think of. When people scan it with their smart phone, they can be directed to sign up to your mailing list.

Another way to get a list going for your mobile advertising campaign is the old fashioned way - asking for it. Whether it's at the register when you're checking them out or with a sign-up sheet and pen, just ask. If they are your customers already, just mention the words sale or discount and they'll have no problem giving you the information.

Mobile marketing companies can help you with the next part. They can design the QR code, help you with the message or make it easy for people to be directed to your website. In this day and age, it's all about graphics, especially since smart phones are capable of so much. You can even have a mobile website designed that's like a mini version of your big one so that it can be viewed easier on a 3 inch screen.

The mobile advertising that you want to share with your customers is up to you. You can send them a weekly message about a sale, send them a monthly newsletter of what's going on or info when there are regular specials. Competition is everywhere and people have a short term memory. That means that you need to remind them about your presence periodically. The way to do that is no more than once a week - if you send something daily, you'll get enemies, not customers.

You can take advantage of the smart phone craze by altering your marketing plan to include mobile marketing. There are plenty of mobile marketing companies out there to help you, so it's just a matter of getting started.
