Uttar Pradesh is bordered by Nepal and China, west by Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan, on the east by Bihar, on the south by Madhya Pradesh. It is a state politically highly sensitive. This is the most populous state of India is also the most tourist visited. It includes the cities of Agra, the city of Taj Mahal, Varanasi and Sarnath.

AGRA
Agra is situated on a tributary of the Ganges, the Yamuna River, and 200 km south of Delhi. ALLAHABAD
It is an Ancient City mingling the waters of the Ganges and the Yamuna River at Triveni Sangam. This is the place Magh Mela takes place every four years between mid-January and mid February and lasts from 15 days to one month. Magh Mela is popularly known as the Kumbh Mela. Maha Kumbh Mela is greatest spiritual festival ever held in the history of the world.

LUCKNOW
The capital of Uttar Pradesh offers nothing that needs to take a detour. However if you go, see the old town where the mosque of Aurangzeb on the right bank of the Gomti (a tributary of the Ganges).In the thirteenth century, when it was founded, it was part of the Sharqi kingdom of Jaunpur in prevailing. As for the modern Lucknow, it is the work of the nawabs Awadh (eighteenth century).

RISHIKESH
Rishikesh is a center of pilgrimage where thousands come each year to Hindus bathe in the Ganges. The city is home to many meditation centers and yoga schools that attract much foreign tourists. In the 60s the Beatles made it a stay to attend a course in transcendental meditation by the Yoga director "Maharishi Mahesh".

VARANASI
The oldest of the sacred cities of Hinduism, Varanasi is also a cultural and commercial city since ancient times. No one can remain indifferent to the fervor of the pilgrims who come by the hundreds of thousands each year in Varanasi to pray and purify themselves, body and soul, in the waters of the Ganges. The pilgrims immerse themselves in the sacred river down the stairs (ghats) built along the shore. Varanasi has 1 million inhabitants, located on the left bank of the Ganges; the city is oriented towards the west to the banks of the river.
