Suzy Azalea, one of the most renowned dog breeder and trainer shares some valuable inputs which when adhered to can keep your pets happy and comfortable. Summers are terribly hot both for humans and animals. When it comes to dogs, unlike humans and few other animals, dogs do not have sweat glands. Rising temperatures, lack of sweat glands and thick fur coats poses a big challenge. So panting is the only way by which they can keep their bodies cool. However heaving panting, restlessness and raising heartbeat could be serious warning.

Suzy Azalea suggests few ways by which you can relieve your pet from severe summer heat and exhaustion. It is imperative for you to lower your pets’ body temperature gradually during peak summers. You can do this either by moving them into shady places or into air conditioned rooms. The next thing Suzy advices to pet owners is to see to it that their pets have easy access to plenty of fresh and cool water.

Summer is also a time for vacation and this is another challenging situation for the owner. When the need and time to travel comes, pet owners get anxious wondering where to keep their beloved pets. While some take the help of their relatives and neighbours, others resort to dog sitters and boarding facilities. With the demand for boarding houses shooting up, several boarding houses have sprouted up. However not all of them are able to provide quality services. This is why Suzy Azalea asks you to be careful while choosing a boarding house for your pet.

Some of the things that Suzy asks you to check before you enroll your pet into a dog boarding facility are:

  • Give yourself ample time and never make any hasty decisions while choosing a boarding house.
  • Try to visit all the boarding houses personally and check for their cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Look for the kind of exposure your dog would get in terms of mingling with other pets.
  • Check out if there are adequate grooming sessions and playing time for your pet.
  • Make sure that the food your dog is going to eat there would meet its dietary requirements. If required leave necessary instructions with the people who are responsible for feeding your pets.

Being a professional trainer herself, Suzy Azalea has come up with some valuable grooming tips which when abided would keep your pet hale and hearty.
