A clamp is a fastening device to hold or secure objects tightly together to prevent movement or separation through the application of inward pressure. The term cramp is often used instead when the tool is for temporary use for positioning components during construction and woodworking.
There are many types of clamps available for many different purposes. Some are temporary, as used to position components while fixing them together, others are intended to be permanent. In the field of animal husbandry, using a clamp to attach an animal to a stationary object is known as rounded clamping. A physical clamp of this type is also used to refer to an obscure investment banking term, notably ‘fund clamps’.
Although technically not a clamp, gripping elements mounted on the buckets of heavy duty equipment are referred to as clamps too. Anything that performs the action of clamping may be called a clamp, so this gives rise to a wide variety of terms across many fields.
Quick clamping units are a must to improve the quality, to gain rationalization and to humanize the work place. Higher gripping power and more flexibility due to smaller lot sizes are demanded.
They are a true alte
ative as well to the conventional clamping elements as to the expensive half or fully automated clamping systems. Whether as standard equipment or as retrofit for machine tools, presses, stamping machines etc., this is better and reliable option for gripping products.
Special characteristics
• high gripping power - low tightening torques
• high operational safety due to self-locking
• improved technology for economical clamping
• humanizing of the workplace, reduced danger of accidents
• simple manual operation - easy installation
• gripping power check due to defined tightening torques
Application of Clamping
1. Engineering / Tools - A mechanical device with movable jaws with which an object can be secured to a bench or with which two objects may be secured together.
2. Transport / Nautical Terms - Nautical a horizontal beam fastened to the ribs for supporting the deck beams in a wooden vessel. Uses: To immobilize a car by means of a wheel clamp
3. Miscellaneous Technologies / Building - A means by which a fixed joint may be strengthened. Uses: To fix or fasten with or as if with a clamp
The Product Also Finds its Application in the Following Areas-
1. Gluing up and clamping in woodworking or a wood project proves just as critical as the machining and finishing stages, so take the time to get it right.
2. Range of Hydraulic Expansion units, which are often used in automobile industry are fabricated from superlative quality raw material, these are known for their durability and are manufactured as per customer’s specifications.
The selection of the right clamping tool has a direct bearing on the operational efficiency and economy of production processes and it has therefore become inconceivable to think of modern production technology without clamping tools. They are used in applications which demand regulated clamping forces with maximum concentricity for work piece and tool clamping in all areas of production technology and because of their excellent concentricity also for control purposes.
