#Vegasstrong Chalk Art Contest Being Held October 21st To benefit The Las Vegas Victims’ Fund

411 Locals is co-sponsoring a “#VegasStrong Chalk Art Contest” with Boca Park that will surely “draw” a crowd in Las Vegas on Saturday, October 21st from 9am to 4pm on behalf of the Las Vegas Victims’ Fund. The contest is being held in a fenced-in vacant parking lot located at 2955 S. Las Vegas Blvd. near the Peppermill Restaurant. The contest is being held to raise funds to provide relief and financial support to the victims and families of the horrific Las Vegas mass shooting. 411 Locals is donating $5,000 to the Las Vegas Victims’ Fund under the names of the contest winners in addition to the other donations collected at the event for artist/spectator votes and spectator water bottles. All artists will receive complimentary water at the event. Boca Park’s development company is donating the land for the school-age kids and adult artists to bring their art pieces to life in their parking lot. A minimum of a $1 donation per person is required to vote and a $1 donation per water bottle for spectators. There is no artist entry fee, and it is open to all school age kids (5-18) and adult artists 18 and up on a first come, first serve basis on the day of the contest. On the day of the event, artists will check in from 9 to 10 a.m., and work on the art will start at 10 a.m. Individual artists or groups can work until 1 p.m., when all chalk art entries must be completed, and judging will start. rnWinners will be announced at 3 p.m., with entries judged based on first impression, most influential for #VegasStrong cause, creativity, originality, skill and use of color. All participants will receive a bucket of Crayola chalk. Depending on their planned design, artists may want to bring extra chalk in a certain color(s). Only non-oil-based, washable chalk may be used, and no other coloring materials will be accepted. All artwork must be appropriate for public viewing by all ages. Artwork must be created freehand. Artists are encouraged to bring other items including sunscreen, hats, knee-pads, chairs, plastic tarps in case of rain, duct tape, packed lunches (although I will ask the owner of our regular food truck to be at event, and other food places are nearby). A DJ will be playing during the event with genres of today’s popular music - in the particularly country. This will be a cash only (checks for large donations) event.
