Several reasons why people choose vegetarian diets: an unwillingness to eat meat, an aversion to killing animals, or simply choosing a different lifestyle.

There are a number of different vegetarian diets. None of them should be a very strict diet. The point here is the prevention of all red meat (lamb, veal, pork, etc)

The most common types of vegetables and vegetarian diets allow:

Vegan + - do not eat food from animals

+ Ovo-lacto - Same as above but includes milk and eggs.

+ Lacto - Allow the milk but do not eat eggs.

+ Ovo - only eat eggs - but not food animals.

+ Fishing - Come fish, but not other foods of animal origin (pescetarian)

+ Chicken - chicken allows

+ Fruitarian (sub-set of vegan - includes only part of the fruiting plants).

These diets, based on the consumption of vegetables, fruits, nuts and whole grains are high in fiber. Other advantages are that are low in calories, refined sugars and saturated fats. With careful planning and adequate knowledge, any common vegetarian diets can provide adequate nutrition for the diabetic.

Remember that some foods should be highlighted: protein, calcium, zinc, iron and vitami
B complex

Lacto + / ovo diets provide protein through the egg and milk.

+ On the other hand, the protein needs of the vegan diet are met by legumes (peas, nuts, beans, lentils, etc). By combining vegetables with various dishes, the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of protein can be achieved.

To consider: due to its high levels of estrogen, a factor in the physical maturation process soy milk, it may be desirable for the vegan child, although it is an excellent source of protein.

Could change to a vegetarian diet cure diabetes?

No way, man. Switching to a vegetarian diet probably will not cure your diabetes. But surely offer several advantages over non-vegetarian diet. Among them: make your body more sensitive to insulin (probably the most important advantage), reducing the risk of some complications associated with diabetes (also very important) and help control their weight better. All this, of course, depends on the choice of food in particular to do when following the type of vegetarian you have selected. There is no single vegetarian eating plan.

A vegetarian diet is the strictest of all vegetarian diets. Vegans eat no meat or foods from animals such as eggs and dairy products. Other types of vegetarian diets may allow dairy products and eggs. A vegan diet is generally low in saturated fat and cholesterol.

Vegetarian diets that include fruits, vegetables, whole grains and vegetables in generous amounts are high in fiber and phytochemicals. In general, vegetarian diets are low-calorie diets are not vegetarian.

In short, a good vegetarian diet benefit people with diabetes.

Vegetarian diets generally lead to significant weight loss, which in turn can improve type 2 diabetes in obese people. This is the case with similar weight loss diets diabetes non-vegetarians.

A vegetarian diet makes your body more sensitive to insulin, some studies say, and that is very important if you have diabetes. According to a 2006 study published in a scientific journal, 43 percent of people who ate a low-fat vegetarian diet reported a reduction in their need for medications for diabetes.

The risk of complications associated with diabetes, renal disease and cardiovascular disease, is also reduced with vegetarian diets. But again, this all depends on the specific type of food you choose.

However, before changing to a vegetarian diet, it is always best to talk to a dietitian or physician if you have diabetes. They can help you create an eating plan that provides all the nutrients for your body and the right amount of calories to maintain healthy weight.
