Your doctor told you that you have lung cancer. What would you do? Smokers would probably decided to quit smoking to reduce the risk of their condition to worsen. How about for non smokers? They do not have an options to stop smoking. This shows that even non smokers can also be victims of this killer disease. Most likely, they have been exposed to carcinogens or pollution for long period of time and that was how they have acquired it. The last resort for them is to relocate to a different area or have their home test for radon. For someone who still have longer chance for survival, it is best to have a cancer diet prevention plan. A few changes in our diet is not a difficult thing to do especially if we want to fight lung cancer. We need to start off with our daily meals. When we were young, we used to leave the veggies on our plate untouched. But as we have grown older, we realized the importance of including it in our diet as it is not only filling up our tummy but beneficial also to our health. Here are some of the vegetables that you can include in you diet to prevent lung diseases. 1. Cruciferous vegetables – cabbage, kale, broccoli and cauliflower are only few of the examples. They all contain two antioxidants, lutein and zeaxanthin, which has a strong effect to decrease our chances against cancer. 2. Beans – research has shown that beans of all kinds is comprise of compounds, protease. This compound is responsible in attacking cancer cells from invading adjacent tissues. Lentil, for example, are legumes and the easiest to prepare. It provides an minimum amount of soluble fiber which is really great for anti-cancer diet. 3. Carrots – there are research stating that beta carotene can cause cancer. However, it has not proven anything about carrots which is rich in beta carotene. Falcarinol, another substance that is found in carrots can also decrease our chance to have lung cancer. 4. Garlic – allium compounds are present in garlic that continuously activates the immune system to fight against cancer cells and breaks down free radicals. It has also an ability in slowly breaking down tumor development. 5. Mushroom – polysaccharides are compunds that can be found in mushrooms and helps in fighting cancer and makes our immune system stronger. A protein called lectin, attacks the abnormal cells and stops them from rapidly growing. These are only five of the vegetables that we can find in the market. There are a lot more vegetables and also fruits which we can inlude in our daily meals and snacks to reduce any chances of lung cancer to affect us and our family.
