Many sportsmen and women around the world are required to be able leap off the ground in order to be competitive in their chosen sporting arena. Some athletes will look to get some better equipment like shoes that are supposed to be able to make you leap higher. Others will perhaps look to find a miracle pill or a super protein shake that will lead to the same result. However, the only guaranteed way or improving your leap is in doing some exercises that allow you to vertically jump higher. I will also be introducing a manual containing a comprehensive vertical jump training program that has boosted my jump height.

The first sort of exercise that you can do is plyometrics. This is made and perfectly suited to any sort of action that requires thrust off the ground. It all helps with your explosive thrust and will aid you in anything from charging across a sporting arena to leaping into the air on a volleyball court.

An easy plyometric exercise that you can do is to find yourself a bench or something sturdy that you can leap up onto. Find something of suitable height and then jump up onto it with your legs together, and then straight back down again. The movement may be simple but its also effective,

A second exercise to do is simply making sure that you improve on general technique. Technique is so important in making you get as high off the ground as possible, and you should always be improving on it. You need to make sure that you record your movements and then look for places to improve.

Last of all you have to stretch all of the muscles that you use when training both before and after any session. You will use a lot of different muscles when you jump and these need to be as limber as possible to get the best out of them. You need to be warm and loose in order to avoid getting injuries and therefore being unable to train for some time.

These three exercises are all key to helping you improve your vertical jumping ability, and need to be done consistently and effectively. I personally followed a step-by-step online jump training software and workout charts that have added inches to my vertical jump.
