Ajmer Sharif Dargah is famous the world over as it is believed that no prayer at this Dargah goes unanswered. It is the most famous attraction of Ajmer city in Rajasthan. The city was established by Raja Ajay Pal Chauhan in the 7th century. The dargah is one of the most revered shrines of the Muslims. It is a famous pilgrimage centre where people from different religious background come to offer prayers. Devotees come here from all over the world. It reflects Mughal style of architecture. This sacred shrine was built in honour of the saint Khwaja Moin-Ud-Din Chisti who dedicated his life to the service of the poor. The Dargah is made of marble with a gold plated dome. The grave of the saint is hemmed in by silver railing and a marble screen.

According to the historic records the Mughal emperor Akbar visited this Dargah from Delhi on foot to pray for a heir. Later his prayer got answered. For women the shrine has a separate room which was built by Chimni Begum, Shah Jahan's daughter.

Ajmer Sharif dargah is known for being the venue for the famous Urs fair. This fair is celebrated annually in memory of saint Khwaja Moin-Ud-Din Chisti. The fair attracts pilgrims in large number to offer prayers to the saint. The celebration stretches for six days. Devotees come with offerings like rose and jasmine flowers and sandalwood paste during the fair. According to the tradition once the wish of the devotee gets fulfilled then he/she offer chadar, neem and ghilaph at the shrine. During the fair mehfils and religious assemblies are held. Quawwalis are sung in the praise of the saint.

Other attractions of Ajmer are:

Nasiyan (Red) Temple: Its a Jain temple with a double storied hall which displays several gold plated wooden figures. The hall of the temple is beautifully adorned with glass mosaic, gold and silver work and precious stones.

Ana Sagar Lake
It is a beautiful artificial lake which got its name from Anaji Chauhan (grandfather of Prithvi Raj Chauhan).There is a marble pavilion besides the lake which was built by Emperor Shahjahan. Also there is a lovely garden named Daulat Bagh which was laid by Emperor Jehangir.

Taragarh Fort
This historic fort was built in the year 1345. It is one of the must-see forts of Rajasthan. Its fortifies walls are pierced with six entrance gates. It boasts of bhim Burj within its complex which is one of the largest battlefields of India. There is also the Dargah of Miran Saheb, the erstwhile governor of the fort.
