If the time has come to plan your next vacation, consider saving up for a trip overseas to Europe. While many people have an inherent aversion to European vacations, visiting a foreign country can be a life-altering experience that drastically changes how you view the world. With so much history, culture, and fun to explore, it’s really no wonder that so many people make the trip over the Atlantic every year. And with the proper planning, the right attitude, and some attention to detail, the entire trip can be as rewarding and painless as a road trip somewhere in America. The Flight Inarguably, one of the biggest reasons that some people are hesitant to travel to Europe is because the flights over there can be seen as cost-prohibitive. After all, you don’t want to waste the lion’s share of your travel budget entirely on getting to and from your destination. This is entirely understandable. However, many individuals are surprised to learn that in some instances, overseas travel isn’t that much more expensive than many domestic flights. The trick is to be flexible in your travel times and fly into major airport hubs. Once you’ve landed, there are a bevy of public transportation options that can get you where you want to be. Flight aggregate websites can also help you find the most affordable ticket on the market, so you certainly don’t have to shop strictly through the airline. And, as is the case with any flight, the further out that you book your adventure, the more affordable the trip will be. The last thing to remember, in regard to the flight, is that it can be a long haul. There’s no getting around the fact that a flight to Europe can take several hours – depending on where you’re departure airport is located. However, most international flights tend to leave later in the evening, so that you can attempt to get some sleep en route. If you’re lucky, you’ll wake up just as you’re about to land, making the flight seem far quicker than it was. Plan Ahead As is the case with any vacation, the better prepared you are, the more satisfying the trip will undoubtedly be. There is so much to see in Europe that if you don’t have a clear plan of your priorities and the things that you want to do and see, you’ll undoubtedly miss something that you would have enjoyed. Furthermore, one of the benefits of visiting any big city is that there is an endless supply of events, gatherings, displays, and other things to see that are free of charge or are relatively inexpensive. So, just because you aren’t operating with a huge budget doesn’t mean you have to miss out. Eat Right Another fun part about many major European cities is that there are no shortages of places to eat. Sure, if you’re in Paris, you may want to treat yourself to a fancy meal, but that doesn’t mean that you need to dine in expensive, four-star restaurants every night. A picnic under the Eifel Tower can be even more meaningful, rewarding, and memorable. Find the Right Place to StayrnOne of the costs that often accompanies any vacation is that lodging can get seriously expensive. However, it doesn’t have to. If you’re traveling with friends, find a hotel where you can split the cost of a single room. Or, consider staying at a hostel. It might not be as luxurious as staying in a nice hotel, but the odds are good you’re going to spend very little time in your room anyway, and there are plenty of clean, attractive hostels for you to consider. What’s more, many of these places even include meals and are a fantastic way to meet fellow travelers and new friends.
