While there are various accommodation options the Fraser island resort options are both luxurious and good value. With five to choose from, you can be sure to find accommodation in a location that is best suited to your needs. One area of particular interest may be happy valley Fraser Island which is located at the eastern most tip. This area boasts accommodations and shops only metres from a beautiful surf beach. There are many things to see and do that can be either adventurous or relaxing. Perhaps planning to spend a few days in the region will help you to get the most out of the sights. The weather is temperate all year round, but perhaps the major drawcard to the area, the humpback whales can be seen during their migration close to the coast in July through November.
Nearly 600 000 people come to the region annual, with most interested in whale watching tours. If you choose to take a tour, be sure to choose a reputable operator and bring your camera as you witness one of nature’s greatest shows. Apart from whales, the area is home to beautiful wetlands and a thriving rainforest that is home to various species of native flora and fauna. Due to the fragile ecosystem, visitors are advised to be careful what they bring into the area and be mindful of what they do. This means that no animals or plant life are allowed, similarly people who choose to camp are prohibited from bringing wood from the mainland. Visitors should also be careful to avoid polluting lakes, creeks and streams in order to leave the ecosystem undamaged and just as beautiful for the next visitor. Sanitation facilities including toilets, showers and garbage disposal bins can all be found in campgrounds.
