Renowned as a religious spot in India, Tirupati is located in the Chittoor of Andhra Pradesh. It is also known as Tirumala. Famed for its Sri Venkateshwara Temple, devoted to Lord Vishnu, it is a revered pilgrimage spot. The temple is on the hill-top of Tirumala. According to Rig Veda, an ancient scripture of Hindus, people should visit this temple at least once in their lifetime.

Some of the well-known attractions of the place include:

Tirupati Tirumala Balaji Temple

The temple has a self-manifested statue of Lord Vishnu. Legends say that during the Kali Yuga, this religious site served as an abode of the Lord. Belonging to different dynasties like Chola, Vijayanagara and Hoysala, the rulers also contributed to the temple. The temple founds its origins in Vaishnavism. Every year thousands of pilgrims visit the temple from far and wide.

Sri Govindarajaswami Temple

It is another important temple in Tirupati. The temple houses imposing gopuram that can be seen from a distance. Consecrated by a great Saint Ramanujacharya in 1130 AD, it is amongst the highly revered temples of India. The gopuram has got admiration for its sculptured beauty. The annual Brahmotsavam is celebrated in Vaisakha month every year.

Padmavati Devi Temple

Situated five km off the Tirupati temple, this famous religious site is dedicated to Goddess Parvati, the consort of Lord Venkateshwara. According to a belief, if you visit Tirupati Venkateshwara temple, it is not complete if you skip the Padmavati Devi temple.

Swami Pushkarani

This is a sacred tank situated adjacent to the temple. It is a sacred lake where devotees took a bath before visiting the temple. Lies within the sacred premises of lord Venketeswara, Swami Pushkarini is a lake that holds religious significance. People believe that this is the holy pleasure lake of the almighty in Vaikuntha. This is the place where he used to take bathe with his consorts. People believe that taking a bath in this tank is the sign of good fortune and materialistic prosperity.

Lepakshi Emporium

If you love shopping, then this is the place that can withstand your expectations. This is a famous emporium, which offers great shopping experience to its visitors. Tourists can buy from here exquisite handicrafts and that too, at moderate prices.

Asthana Mandapam (Sadas Hall)

This is a popular place where you can enjoy religious as well as cultural programs. Devotional programs such as music concerts, discourses, bhajans and harikathas, conducted here increase the religious fervor of this place. It is a good place to soothe you ears with devotional stuff.
