We often use visualization in our ordinary lives so the thought of it helping us with our cold calling isn’t too farfetched. Learning how to use images to help us guide or calls is a relatively easy thing. When you are ready you simply clear your mind of all other thoughts. While that part isn’t so easy the images you see should be clear and with the right goals or your mind will use the wrong concept no matter what you try to tell it.
If you are interested in using visualization here are a few steps to help you on your journey:
1. Sit in a isolated area: You need to make sure that this area is free from distraction. No pagers, cell phones, un-expected knock at the door. Even removing visual distractions like pictures or hanging objects will help with the process.
2. Clear your mind of other thoughts: This one is difficult but you want to make sure that the prospect is all that is on your mind. If you are thinking of other things during the visualization process then you can be thrown off your goal.
3. Close your eyes: This is important because it takes away all other stimuli and helps you visualize your goal better.
4. See the prospect at their desk talking to you: This will help you connect to the prospect. Think of them at their desk or place of work and them speaking with you on the phone. Think of your goal as “Holding a positive conversation with them” not making the sale that goal will only add sales pressure and ruin your future call to them.
5. Visualize the conversation closing positively: A smiles, thanks, will end your experience on a positive note.
This exercise will prepare your mind for what lies ahead and teach you to control your thinking. It will show you concentration and help you reach your goals. Use of visualization has been around for many years and used in several civilizations. They have used it to help mental illnesses and also to improve medical conditions. The exercise of visualization can show you mind how you wish for the call to come out and help your mind work harder to achieve that goal. You can try this exercise in your free time and see how it affects you. You never know you might even surprise yourself.
