For many years I sufferered from mild dizziness. At other times I had brief memory lapses - didnt remember when I crossed the street - only that I was aware of being on one side of the street and suddenly I was on the other side with no recollection of when or where I crossed. It was a bit frightening at times and thought I probably had some kind of mental illness. However, I started taking various supplements in addition to eating a lot of fruits (which I always loved since childhood). The supplements really helped and for many years I never felt the old symptoms of dizziness or memory lapses. I read a lot of nutrition magazines, alte
ative therapy books and about people with chronic dietary imbalances. I learned that what we put into our mouths are directly related to how we feel and how healthy we are.
Due to gallbladder surgery in my 20's absorption of nutrients is a priority. I am therefore sharing my list of supplements that has helped me: calcium, magnesium, folic acid, alphalipoic acid, B-100 vitamin complex, extra B12 and B6, selenium, chromium picolinate, zinc,Vitamin C. In additio
I eat between 5-6 fruits per day to get my supply of potassium and additional vitamins and trace minerals. My favourite fruits are bananas, pineapple, apples, blueberries, oranges, peaches, mangoes from which I get potassium. I also use powdered greens plus fresh vegetables and good protein powder supplement.
It is important to also take care of your thyroid as the hormones it produces act as neurotransmitters which affect how our brain functions. I take thyroid support supplements because as we age our system begins to break down and so we have to rebuild to stay healthy. I also review my lab reports carefully when I get my annual checkup and research the results (although the doctor says everything is fine). I take action to ensure that my endocrine system is in good working order when I see any reading that it either high or low rather than normal. When we were children our parents gave us nutritious food to help us grow and become healthy. Similarly when we are older we need additional nutrients to keep our bodies from deteriorating through the aging process hence the saying - "once a man, twice a child!"
