The detriment brought to any system or material by water through destructive methods is considered to be water damage. At times these losses caused by the water can be at a very large scale. Few of the water damage that is witnessed quiet often are rusting of steel, rotting of wood, de-laminating of various materials for instance plywood, growth and many others. Most of the damages do not happen instantly. In case of water spots, the water gradually destroys the surface of a certain material. Floods may cause destruction immediately. Whether the harm caused by water is immediate or not, the main concern is the damage it causes to one’s property. Many a times these water damages appear to become costly for the homeowners or the owners of the property. Various home insurance policies are available, but a majority of those policies usually do not cover any kind cost that is associated with water damage and water damage restoration. A very common reason found for the water damage in many residents is the failure of proper drainage and sump pump. It becomes very difficult for the home owners when these costs are not covered by the policies and added to the monthly premium of that policy. In many cities the government has availed facilities where one can get assistance for such kind of water damages, especially people who are largely affected by floods. These victims can apply to the government of their state and use some help. Big metro cities, communities and businesses can even apply to the FEMA Public Assistance programme and ask them to fund for the damages caused by the massive floods. Most of the time these FEMA Public Assistance programmes purchase the properties that have become a victim of water damage , and demolish them. These properties are then utilized in building green spaces for the public.
