There are several ways to help people in poverty. You can give them all a fish, or you can teach them how to fish. In this article, I’m going to teach you how to provide more sustainable solutions to the problem of poverty. Instead of giving your financially burdened friends a loan, for example, why not teach them how to have a wealthy and healthy mindset? Tell me, does this kind of information interest you? If so, then read on for more ways to help people in poverty. 1) Live Within Your Means. In this day and age, people don’t seem to know what living within their means is anymore. After all, there are other more important things they have to deal with like the new video game release, the new phone up for sale, the new membership only club in town, etc. With all these “must haves,” it’s no wonder that debt is piling up. While it’s perfectly natural to want things, it’s dangerous to keep on buying things that aren’t needed. If your friends have this problem, then perhaps a reality check is in order. At the end of the day, can they really afford to buy everything that they want? 2) Start Investing. One of the ways to help people in poverty is to educate them about the various vehicles to wealth. The problem with a lot of poor people is that most of them don’t really make much of an effort to find ways to improve their standing. Many of them seem to have accepted that what they have now is all that they will ever have. However, there are various vehicles to wealth that they can try. Investing isn’t only for the rich; it’s for those who want to see their money grow. 3) It’s All About Discipline. One of the ways to help people in poverty is to teach them to save. Saving is very important; and yet, not everybody does it. Sure, some people save for one month; but then they get tempted and forget about saving altogether. These people always have a lot of excuses. One of the most common excuses is that their salary is not large enough. When you find yourself dealing with such an excuse, respond by explaining that a person’s capacity to save has nothing to do with the size of their income. A person can have a huge salary and still fail to save; while someone who barely makes enough can still send their kids to school. There are many ways to help people in poverty. However, you must always remember that real help is getting your friend out of debt forever and not just until the next three months.
