The best way to do it would be to clamp the tick with tweezers, take it as much nearer to the animal’s skin as possible but take care not to pinch the dog’s skin. 4.Also remember to apply an antiseptic ointment on the bite mark so as to clean the wound. Other options that can be explored are using medical products such as Frontline Spot On which has proven to be useful both on cats and dogs. It can be applied directly on your pet’s skin and can kill ticks and fleas within 24 hours of application. Frontline contains an active ingredient called as fipronil which dissolves within the pet’s skin and remains a protective coating for several weeks and thus is a viable longer term solution.
