There are plenty of ways to stop smoking and in this article we will discuss two of the main ways to stop smoking. One way to stop smoking is by using NRT products. These are products which give you a steady dose of nicotine throughout the day and in fact NRT stands for nicotine replacement therapy. These basically come in a chewing gum format which you chew on daily to get your fix of nicotine or as nicotine patch which you stick to your arm and the dose of nicotine filters through your skin and into your bloodstream. Some of the advantages of this method of quitting are that there is very little urge for you to smoke anymore because you are already getting your nicotine fix. Another way to stop smoking is to simply quit for good. This is called the cold turkey method. Cold turkey simply refers to the sudden withdrawal from use of a drug which in the case of a smoker is nicotine. One advantage of this method is that you do not have to spend any money on it as you would have to with NRT and other methods, although If you relapse this would be a non-point. One of the main disadvantages is that it normally takes many quits to finally kick the habit using this method alone. Many people spend years trying to quit using this method.
