We Are A Tiny Speck In The Universe, So Be The Best Speck You Can

If you are anything like most people, you have taken a moment to ponder the meaning of your existence. To think about your place in the world and the universe. If you are anything like the rest of us, you very quickly realized that you are a very tiny speck of dust in comparison to the vastness of the universe.
I myself have often times found myself pondering the meaning of my life and my place in the cosmos. Wondering whether or not the jou
ey was worth it at all and if a single speck of dust like myself could truly make a difference at all. I look to the stars in great wonder as I find myself in a state of awe.
I can't say that I have really figured much out in the years that I have walked this planet, but I have come to a few conclusions about things as I have gone along. The first conclusion is that there is only one thing we have ever and will ever have control over. The second is that the jou
ey will never be an easy one.
Let's discuss the first lesson I learned in my travels. That lesson again is that there is only one thing we can ever control, and ever will be able to control. I see so many people who try to control other people, situations, places, things, or whatever it is they feel the need to control. I look at them with sorrow and sadness as the world slaps them in the face and tries to teach them that they have absolutely no control at all.
I guess it's just human nature to cling to things and try to control them. We try to keep our children young, or be younger ourselves. We try to control our dog and make him or her stop chewing or pooping on things. We try to control our vehicle at sixty miles per hour as it skids out of control into the light pole. We try to control every aspect of our lives, and often to no avail and often with harsh consequences.
In the end, the only thing we can and will ever have any control over is whether or not we are good or evil. Whether we do great things in our lives that are for the better of everyone, or whether or not we do horrible things that are selfish and take from others. Sometimes that giving and taking involves physical things such as money, cars, or whatever. Most of the time it involves energy of some type. We give anger in order to make someone feel bad and so that we can take power and control. We give love, and when done properly, it asks for absolutely nothing in return. The more good we do though, which is the irony, the more we get in return. The more evil we do, and the more we take, the less we end up having at the end of the day.
The second lesson I have learned during the jou
ey of my life is that the path is never easy. In the moment, it is always easy to steal a hundred dollars than it is to earn it. It is easier to get other people to do as you wish through force and fear than it is through respect and by setting the example. It takes much more time and energy to become an honest person. To set the example by being a strong, confident, powerful person through love and compassion and kindness.
The path of being good is much, much more difficult than the path of being evil. It always has been and always will be, which is why so few people will choose to do it. But we must walk the path, no matter the trials and tribulations. No matter how difficult it is or how hard the path may be. No matter how much work, or effort, or time it takes, we must walk the path without fear. Without conce
of the consequences from those who will lash out against us. We must walk the path, without fear, and with great resolve.
So at the end of our lives as we lay there thinking about our lives and the jou
ey we walked, we must look back and who and what we were. I don't know about you, but at the end of my life I would much prefer to know that I walked a path of goodness, of greatness. To know that no matter how difficult the path may have been or how hard things got, that I walked without fear. I stood tall and proud of the man I was and the path I walked. That I lived my life completely by my own standards and with great resolve. That I was great, regardless of anything and everything else. Within myself most of all, and as a result, in the world as well.
