For what they've gone out and hired a new company to create the perfect looking website for you. You have the writing done correctly, has met with the design team and have what you feel full filled the brief and delivered what I believe is a unique looking web design and surprising.
Now the question arises, and it is very impotant, this new site will create additional sales for your business. I mean, people seeking a service or product, and come across your site suddenly give everything for the design and make a purchase from you.
There are some schools of thought would say no. people go online and buy purely based on price offered. This may be true in the case of a consumer buys a product that is generic and can be purchased anywhere. If for example you are looking to buy a machine pwashing way, is obviously going to buy on the website that has the cheapest price.
On the other hand, if you are looking for a service, then the design of a website is largely at stake. If for example you are looking for an architect, would clearly be a site that is the most exclusive and elegant look that reflects the character of the company and the personality of the work they have done. You like that is a site of individual character and a place that is not with templates or a carbon copy of another site.
So we really are divided into two components. If you have a product to sell is pretty generic so the design is not as important as a company with a sevice they offer. Again, if you have a product to sell is also unique and high-end then you want the website to reflect this. Look at the high end boutique Italian furniture sites to get an idea of how a really must suit the type of product you are selling. If you are a consumer of one of these sites you can expect to see a website with very contemporary style. If you see a cheap looking, in the basement of the budget bargain hunting type of website will not be in most cases you end up buying. Remember the golden rule is to design according to your business and what your customer expects.
