So you've built the site and spend a lot of time on the content, the layout and maybe even went through the hassles of setting up a payment processor. What now? Well, without traffic any website is worthless. Its is the lifeblood of any site and without it you cannot make money. It takes time to establish your site and building "credibility" with search engines can take a very long time. Often times rushing this can damage your site permanently and cause your site to get sand boxed by Google. Driving significant amounts of traffic from the search engines will probably not happen in the first 6 months - even if you work really hard at getting the traffic.

So, what are your options? Well, the best way to get traffic instantly is to just buy it. With Google's AdWords Sponsored Listings you can get highly targeted traffic to your site in as little as 15 minutes. Sponsored search listings with Google, Yahoo/MSN and other search engines has the huge advantage of being targeted which allows you to get the right visitors to your site. However, this comes at a price and unless it produces a positive ROI it can drain your advertising budget really quickly.

While sponsored search listings is quick and highly targeted it represents only a small portion of the traffic you could buy. Media Buys as its commonly know is a huge source of traffic but it can be very hard to return a positive ROI if you do direct response since your traffic is based on a demographic targeting rather than a keyword model.

These are typically banner placements on websites that fit your demographic and unless you target these banners very well you won't see the response you are after. An easy way to get started is to negotiate banner placements with website owners that have products and services that relate to yours instead of approaching your direct competition.

The fact remains that you can get traffic very quickly and you can get a lot of it. You don't have to wait a lifetime to see results from search engines.
