Weight loss in medical parlance or in the context of physical fitness is a reduction of the total body mass, due to a mean loss of fluid, body fat or adipose or lean mass, namely bones mineral deposits, muscle tendon and other connective tissues. Weight loss can be achieved through a regimen or by the administration of dietary supplements.
Weight loss becomes a necessity once knowing how hazardous obesity can be. Obesity (being 20 percent or more of your ideal weight) is a major risk factor for the 5 of the 10 leading causes of death. These are strokes, some types of cancer, type II diabetes, and arteriosclerosis (build up of fatty deposits inside arteries); gallstones, arthritis and back pain.
The cornerstone of weight loss is calorie restriction. There is no getting around the fact, that only when you take less energy than what your body uses, is when you lose weight. Your body needs to get energy from somewhere so it has to look towards to internally stored energy.
The best possible way to lose weight fast as suggested by both nutritionists and fitness experts, is a combination of a healthy diet (or supplements as it increases metabolism) and exercise. Exercising while not having the proper diet will lead to inefficiency in weight loss, while diet without exercise will prevent you from gaining weight, but will not do as much in terms of losing it. By integrating the benefits of both a healthy diet and exercise into your lifestyle, you will turn your body into a fat burning machine, allowing you to lose weight fast and keep it off.
