Aerial Boom Lifts and general types of boom lifts are products designed to take workers up to elevated heights. A lot of businesses use boom lifts to reach high heights when they need to do repairs or construction work up in the air. This is something that you will commonly see while driving down the road, they are often used by construction workers. Some of the industries that boom lifts are used in include telephone wiring and poll industries, since the workers often have to use a boom lift in order to reach the top of these polls. You may also know a boom lift as a cherry picker, which was the original name designed for these products. Boom lifts are commonly called cherry picker because they would allow you to pick cherries from high up in the tree. Fortunately, boom lifts are allowed to reach heights of up to 48 meters, which is a approximately 156 feet. There is also a maximum capacity of 1000 pounds that can be on the boom lift. Below, you will find the many different types of lifts and what their uses are.

Articulating boom liftsr
These are sometimes referred to as a knuckle boom lift. They are designed to articulate for reaching up and over machinery, obstacles on the floor, or other types of equipment. Some of the features of articulating boom lifts are that they are drivable even when the lift is extended to full elevation, they have a 360 degree rotation ability, which allows them to turn in either direction, they can be raised and lowered, their width is rather narrow which allows them to easily navigate between aisles or narrow areas and articulating boom lifts also have forward and backward movement and steering capabilities.

Electrical boom liftsr
An electrical boom lift is something that you will commonly find indoors. Similar to an articulating boom lift, electrical boom lifts allow you to go up and over equipment, obstacles that you will find on the floor and other types of machinery. Electrical boom lifts are usually powered by a rechargeable battery. This allows them to not have to be plugged in or be driven with some type of gasoline. Just like articulating boom lifts, electrical boom lifts are also drivable when they have been extended to their full elevation. The chassis of an electrical boom lift is also rather narrow, allowing it to be used in tight quarters.

Telescopic boom liftsr
These boom lifts are sometimes known as straight or stick types of boom lifts. If you need to reach high up into the air, this is the type of boom lift that you will want to use. It is not designed for reaching over things. These boom lifts can rotate 360 degrees, they can be raised or lowered and they can maneuver and steer themselves in any direction.

Towable boom liftsr
A towable boom lift has an articulated boom and it also has a turntable mounted on what is a towable trailer chassis. These can be towed behind a vehicle, they often carry rechargeable batteries or gasoline generators and their self-leveling.
