Before COVID-19 started to spread through the world at the end of 2019 humanity had dealt with and survived through dozens and dozens of epidemics. This is hardly the first we find ourselves in such a situation. As a background, I shall briefly give some well-documented figures of past epidemics treated with homeopathy to contradict today’s point of view that before “modern medicine” singular opinion.

Typhus fever epidemic of 1813. This is within a few years of the discovery of homeopathy. Dr. Hahnemann treated 180 cases of Typhus losing only 2 patients. The mortality at the time was 30%.
The cholera epidemic of 1830-32, under conventional treatment the mortality was evaluated up to 80%. In the 10 homeopathic hospitals administered by Dr. Quin of London, the mortality was 9%.

Jumping forward to the 1918 -1919 influenza pandemic so often quoted these days since it was the last true worldwide pandemic, compendiums of U.S. doctors reported averaging less than 1% mortality whereas conventional medicine was reporting 30%.

The advantages of homeopathy in pandemics.
Homeopaths do not waste valuable time trying to make the diagnosis. Keep in mind that was the first hurdle medicine faced at the beginning. The symptoms rule. A patient who has Sudden blue lips and cough will be given the remedy Camphora. Veratrum album might be considered. Countless people could have been saved from the very beginning.
Medicine is also a top-down organization. When doctors noticed that their intubated patients were not responding the way they were supposed to, they still performed them because that was the treatment professed by the hierarchy even though patients were dying, they could not change it. It took months before intubation was revealed to be ill-advised, a direct result of the mechanical approach to disease.

Taking symptoms as the truest value of the patient’s condition that is taking an empirical approach saves time and lives. Homeopathy is the most elaborated empirical medicine.
Epidemics have limited symptomatologies hence the amount of effective homeopathic remedies is automatically limited to a few, a dozen or so remedies as opposed to the 7000 or so remedies available.

All in all, even during this pandemic homeopaths banded together and quickly narrowed down effective remedies such as Camphora, Antimonium tartaricum, Kali bichromatum, Aconitum, Bryonia. Unfortunately, our voice is muzzled to nil.
