Canada is a bilingual country with French and English being widely spoken across the country. In recent years, Canada has become a powerhouse for Education as its curriculum is always evolving to provide the best to its students. With every intake coming from all over the world, the culture in Canada is one of the most diverse in the world, making this an ideal environment for students. To begin your journey to Canada to pursue your education and build your future career, Here are a few steps you need to keep in mind: 1. Choosing and Applying to Universities - The first step to studying in Canada, is identifying the course which you want to study and the University you will be studying in. After evaluating your academic qualifications, you should participate in an aptitude test to find out where your interests and strengths lie and accordingly choose a course and university to you. Try your best to make sure you choose the university which will give you the best output and help you in your career. 2. Scholarships Scholarships are a means of reducing the financial burden on students while pursuing Overseas Education. Scholarships are awarded based on different categories. Students can apply for scholarships based on academic performance, while some universities also offer scholarships based on an essay of expression or because of your extracurricular activities. All students are advised to apply for scholarships after they submit their applications to the Universities. 3. Admission Tests and Proficiency Tests - rnAdmission tests are employed by Universities to help them evaluate applicants on their knowledge and understanding of the course and general knowledge. These are competitive examinations. A few of these are GRE, GMAT, SAT and ACT. Another type of tests that universities often require are English Proficiency Tests. These tests are specifically made to test the English Proficiency in speaking and writing. These test are IELTS, PTE and TOEFL. The base scores that are usually required are 6.5 and above. A recommendation for students are to attend coaching classes for both set of tests. rn4. Visa and Departure - Once you have secured your admission into the University of your choice, the next step is to apply for Student Visa or Student Permit. The Student Visa and Permit, grants you entry in to Canada for the purpose of education. The entire process of application is surprisingly simple but is often intimidating to students. While applying, you need to attach a copy of your acceptance letter and also have a specified amount of funds in your account. 5. Requirements for Entry - The entry requirements for Canada are very simple but the Government is very strict when it comes to permitting entry to International travelers into Canada. The requirements of a valid passport and visa is the most most basic requirement. If you are traveling via the US, then you need to have a valid US or Transfer Visa and travel documents. As you will be traveling on the pretext of Education, you are also required to have a confirmation letter from the University you will be attending. You are also required to have a certain amount of funds in your account to gain entry into Canada. 6. Employment Being an international student, you are given the allowance by your University to work part time along side your course. You are allowed 20 hours during term time and 40 hours (full time) during vacation time. Canada also offers a Co-Op work programme that as an employed student, you get hands on experience in dealing with people while also developing your skill set. This has proven to be very beneficial to students in their future careers. rnAfter completion of your course you can work up to 3 years depending on the length of your program. Education Abroad is often challenging to students and they are mostly intimidated by the transition to a new country.
