It is considered to be the best oral or sub dermal contraceptive to control pregnancy.
Mirena IUD is a plastic device that contain female hormone levonorgestrel. This plastic device causes change in cervical mucus and uterine lining and further makes it harder for sperm to reach the uterus. Which is further very harder to fertilized egg to attach to the uterus. This is a device that is placed in the uterus and start its work by releasing the hormone to prevent pregnancy for maximum period of five years. Mirena IUD is meant for the use of women only. 1) Mirena IUD should not be used by women who are allergic to it or to its ingredient.
2) This medication should be used cautiously in patients suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
3) Plan B should be used cautiously in patients having Coagulopathy and the ones receiving anticoagulants.
4) Women using Mirena should get their Blood test done regularly.
5) Mirena is not meant to be used in children as safety of the product has not been established in them.
6) It should be used cautiously in elderly women as it may have more severe side effects in them.
Please note that women already using an Intrauterine device should not use another IUD unless the previous one has been removed. Mirena IUD should be used as prescribed by doctor or health care professional. The instructions should be properly read and understood before inserting the device. Mirena should be inserted under aseptic conditions by health care professional familiar with the procedure. You should not use Mirena IUD medicine if you are pregnant and breastfeeding mother without doctor recommendation.
