The benefits of blepharoplasty are a more vibrant and youthful appearance to your eyes that can do a world of good to your image. As you probably know, the eyes can really make the difference in your appearance. When excess fat builds up in the eyelids, they start to droop and become puffy. While there is the issue of these eyelids affecting the peripheral vision, they also wrinkle and appear baggy. Cosmetic eyelid surgery called blepharoplasty is aimed at correcting this. While all modern plastic surgery modalities, including eyelid cosmetic surgery, depend on high tech tools for improved safety and efficiency, blepharoplasty particularly requires deftness and experience on the part of the surgeon since eyelids have one of the most complex anatomical structures in the human body. Procedures Involved in Blepharoplasty Blepharoplasty could involve both lower eyelid surgery and upper eyelid surgery or one of these depending on what’s needed. Cosmetic eyelid surgery will include repositioning the eyes’ corner in a procedure called Canthopexy, repositioning the lower eyelid and tarsal lateral strip eyelid, ablation of the fat tear trough and lower eyelid fat sliding, and release of the orbicularis. Advantages of Blepharoplasty • Upper eyelid surgery can help improve the glabellar frown lines. • For better results, upper blepharoplasty can be performed in conjunction with Browpexy for repositioning the eyebrow. • Blepharoplasty can help remove the excess muscle, fat and skin from the eyelids for more rejuvenated eyes. The lower eyelids are particularly complex areas where skill and experience are vital. • One of the other benefits of cosmetic eyelid surgery is that it is an outpatient procedure, if performed independently and not along with any other cosmetic surgery. • Patients can return to their normal activities in five days, and the bruising can be concealed with sunglasses that can also provide protection to the eyes. The bruising would disappear later though. • Post-surgery care would involve cool packs to deal with the swelling that may occur for a few days following the eyelid cosmetic surgery. Moisturizing drops are prescribed for protecting the eyes, in addition to pain medication. • Being an outpatient procedure, patients do not need to be many days away from their work or regular routine. A reliable plastic surgeon would offer all tips and advice required and post-surgery care whenever needed. Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery Could also Improve Vision Along with improved looks, cosmetic eyelid surgery can also help improve peripheral vision which would otherwise be obscured due to sagging eyelids. This aspect could be crucial in letting your surgery be covered by insurance providers. The plastic surgeon can probably assist patients in this process which would include a visual field test.
