From December 1, 2009, the Federal Trade Commission United States has set up some guidelines for internet marketing that must be followed by anyone who intends to sell any product or service through Internet. Therefore, if you are interested in knowing what the guidelines for internet marketing are and how they apply to you, read on.

Basically, what the guidelines are trying to do is to make online content more transparent for consumers and prevent the indexing of the pages that show evidence that they are false or misleading in any way for the consumer.

For example, we can not declare any of their websites that "this product works wonders for ___" unless they have been tested, or that such statement is based on real evidence and he knows he can give the necessary justification to make that statement.

If you are promoting products or services that are not yours, and you have not tried (which is a large percentage of time with affiliate marketing), you have to know what are the guidelines for internet marketing.

These guidelines state that we now have to declare the nature of their relationship with the product, this means you have to say on the link or on top of the page or the other point made clear the nature of that product or service (which receives a commission for each sale you make) and have not used it personally.

I know this may sound like a murderer at large sales, however, is not necessarily so. Nowadays people are very familiar with the concept of web pages getting a commission every time someone buys a product advertised on their site, and usually have no problem with that.

Also, when a product or service that is declared to achieve certain results, it is enough to put any note as "These results were achieved by a few users and are not likely to achieve the same results" or "Results not typical" in order to stop looking for false advertising. The notice must include the results obtained by the average consumer, which are documented and revisions should be part of real consumers who have used the product and receive no benefit of giving an unqualified opinion.

It is also a good idea to consult the pages of your site links to, to see that they know what the guidelines for internet marketing and are in line with them.

But even if these rules are determined by the Federal Trade Commission United States, do not think that because you live in a different country, do not apply to you, because if the product or service you're advertising is purchased by someone in United States and claims arise, you are responsible.

The main idea is, if you are taking money to write a review of certain product, to talk about it or for sale online, you must clearly state that, so the consumer is aware of his relationship with the product or service .

For banner ads very evident, it is not necessary to declare his relationship with her because it is well known to all that ad banners are not really belong to the contents and thoughts of your site and you will receive a commission if someone makes a purchase click on that banner.

The idea of every internet marketer to understand the guidelines for internet marketing is to make things more transparent for consumers. Now you know clearly when a review is written by own experience or is there because it is a paid advertisement by the manufacturer, and that the descriptions of the outcomes and characteristics of each product in the most realistic.
