Dental restoration refers to various dental procedures used to restore the function of the teeth that are missing, decayed, weakened, crooked, and worn out. Imagine not being able to smile because you are missing front teeth? Worry no more because you are not alone, and Dr. Artaza and a team of experts at Artaza Dental offer the best dental restorations with crowns and veneers in Katy to restore and protect your damaged teeth for a quality smile.

Types of tooth restoration

Your restoration will depend on the type and scope of damage to restore the function and structure of your teeth. The joint dental restoration includes:

Veneers

If your front teeth are badly stained and crooked, simple veneers are placed on the affected area's surface. Veneers are thin porcelain cemented over the front of your teeth to change color or shape. Veneers enhance tooth color and shape, mask discolorations, close moderate spaces, and strengthen minor crowding, creating a pleasing and esthetic smile.

They are two types of veneers which are as follows:

Traditional. Requires extensive procedure, including grinding down the tooth enamel and structure.

No prep. It requires less preparation, no enamel removal, and no anesthetic.

Crowns

If your teeth have weakened and have become susceptible to dental problems such as cavities, root canal, discolorations, and cracks, crowns help restore these problems. Your prosthodontist will place a cap over your entire tooth to help teeth with large cavities, weakened teeth, missing teeth, worn down teeth, and vulnerable teeth after a root canal.

Implants

Your dentist uses dental implants to fill the missing teeth, so that they feel and function like natural teeth. They hold replacement teeth such as crowns and bridges in place. There are two types of implants which are as follows:

Endosteal. The jawbone is drilled into place in an artificial root.

Subperiosteal. Artificial roots are placed on the jawbone when there is no enough jawbone to hold the implant in place.

Implants require several months and multiple procedures to be complete, and they can last for decades and improve bite and speech.

Bridges

They are false teeth made up of two crown abutment teeth to fill in the missing teeth. Implant-supported and traditional are examples of bridges.

Dentures

They are removable replacements for missing teeth and surrounding tissues due to gum disease, tooth decay, and injury. You can also get partial dentures to replace your missing teeth if you have some of your natural teeth.

Fillings

It is the most common type of tooth restoration used to fill in cavities caused by dental decay. Dental fillings include composite resins, glass ionomers, and resin-modified glass ionomers.

Bonding

Your dentist uses bonding to perfect the appearance of your discolored, cracked, and chipped teeth. Bonding is not as sturdy as veneers and crowns because bonded teeth can chip easily, requiring other restoration procedures.
