Adenomyosis is a diffuse or localized disease caused by the invasion of endometrial glands and stroma into the myometrium. It is often found in 30-50 years old women who have given birth. About 15% of them have endometriosis, and about 50% of them have hysteromyoma. At present, the treatment of adenomyosis is a global problem. Due to the unclear etiology, we should get more knowledge of this disease and take active treatment. What are the symptoms of adenomyosis? 1. Progressive dysmenorrhea 50% of adenomyosis patients have dysmenorrhea, coital pain, pelvic pain and other uncomfortable symptoms. Dysmenorrhea is a typical symptom of adenomyosis, which is secondary and progressive. It usually appears one week before menstruation. When menstruation ends, dysmenorrhea will be relieved. Before menstruation or during the menstrual period, due to the bleeding of the focus, * the blood stasis in the dense muscle layer is small, which causes the pressure to increase sharply, stimulate the peripheral smooth muscle, and cause spasmodic contraction, thus causing abdominal pain. 2. Menstrual disorders Dysmenorrhea is the primary symptom of adenomyosis, which is mainly manifested by increased menstrual volume and prolonged menstruation. On the one hand, the increase of menstrual volume is due to the enlargement of the uterus and the corresponding growth of the endometrial area.rnOn the other hand, the infiltration of the endometrium and the proliferation of fibromuscular bundles interfere with the normal contraction and hemostasis of myometrium. 3. Increased menstrual volume About 40-50% of the patients will have increased menstrual volume symptoms, which shows that the menstrual volume increases in the menstrual cycle for several consecutive months, generally more than 80 ml. 4. Anemia Female anemia is mostly due to excessive menstruation. Excessive menstruation means excessive blood loss, and the body's own hematopoiesis function can not keep up with the speed of loss, which may lead to anemia symptoms. Menorrhagia is also a common symptom of adenomyosis, so anemia is more common. 5. Infertility Generally speaking, serious adenomyosis, especially the patients with endometriosis, is easy to lead to infertility. Because this kind of patients with thickened uterus often have pelvic adhesion, which is not conducive to ovarian ovulation and embryo implantation, and the natural pregnancy rate will decline. What are the treatments of adenomyosis? 1. Hormone therapy. Through hormone therapy, such as levonorgestrel releasing IUD (inserted into uterus), aromatase inhibitors and GnRH analogues, severe or painful symptoms can be controlled. 2. Medication. At present, patients with mild symptoms and fertility requirements can choose drug treatment. Your doctor may prescribe NSAIDs to relieve mild pain associated with adenomyosis. NSAIDs are usually started one to two days before the beginning of your period and continued through the first few of days of your period. Or patients can choose traditional Chinese medicine for treatment, such as Fuyan pill. It has the functions of clearing away heat and detoxification, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. It can not only treat the disease area, but also inhibit the further spread of inflammation. 3. Surgical treatment. In young patients with adenomyosis, if there are indications for surgery, focus removal is usually chosen. However, the removal of lesions usually can not completely remove all adenomyosis, and the recurrence rate is still high. Moreover, the operation has obvious damage to the myometrium, which may cause damage to the shape of the uterus, reduction of the volume of the uterus and pelvic adhesions, and affect or destroy the fertility function. Therefore, it is not recommended as the first choice of treatment for patients with fertility requirements. However, women with serious symptoms and no fertility requirements should be considered to choose this way of treatment.rnThe treatment of adenomyosis should be based on the patients' age, fertility requirements, symptoms, focus degree and so on.
