What causes anxiety?
I realise that many of you reading this article perhaps already suffer from some form of anxiety, however in writing this I have kept in mind those who will visit this site wondering if indeed they are suffering from an anxiety disorder
What I will cover in this piece will be, what anxiety medically is and how you can recognise it, what causes anxiety and how you can eliminate it for good. Sound good?
WHAT ANXIETY ACTUALLY IS
Some people think of anxiety as a disorder, however anxiety is just a general term given for several disorders that cause fear, worry, apprehension and nervousness. These disorders affect how we feel, behave and can cause very real physical symptoms.
Unknown to many people anxiety is actually a normal reaction to a stressor (anything that causes stress ). However it is when it becomes excessive that it is classified as a disorder, and that there is where the problem lies. Anxiety is normal, excessive anxiety is the problem.
So given that, you can at least take from it that everyone experiences some form of anxiety at some stage or another. I’m going to guess that the reason you are here on my website is because you have crossed over to experiencing excessive anxiety? Not to worry, so did I. Now the goal is to eliminate it as I did.
HOW TO RECOGNISE IT
As said above, anxiety is quite normal. Excessive anxiety is where the problem lies. So how can you recognise the difference in the two. I guess the obvious answer is if you didn’t experience excessive anxiety chances are you wouldn’t be reading this.
But if you have come here thinking yes maybe I experience excessive anxiety than some of the physical symptoms you might be experiencing are tense muscles, heart palpitations, churning stomach, nausea, back ache, trembling, headache and possibly diarrhoea. If any of these apply to you not to worry. You can never begin to put something right until such time as you know there is something wrong. What I mean is you cannot begin to cure your anxiety until such time as you know that yes you do experience excessive anxiety.
WHAT CAUSES ANXIETY
There is no one cause for anxiety however there is but one little organ in the brain that is 100% responsible for all and every anxiety disorder. This little organ also happens to be the key to eliminating any disorder you might be experiencing. More about that shortly. rnAnxiety can be caused by many factors.
These include:
• Environmental factors - such as stress at work, stress from a natural disaster or trauma from events such as abuse, death of a loved one or victimization.
• Substance use and abuse – intoxication from drugs such as cocaine or amphetamines or indeed withdrawal from such substances
• Medical factors – stress from a serious illness, side effects of medication or lack of oxygen from emphysema, or pulmory embolism ( a blood clot in the lung )
• Genetics – researchers suggest that a family history of anxiety increases the likelihood of one developing it. That is of course, some people may have a predisposition that gives them a greater chance of suffering from anxiety disorders
• Brain chemistry – It has been shown through research that people with abnormal levels of certain neurotransmitters in the brain are more likely to suffer from generalized anxiety disorders. The brain will react in an inappropriate way in some situations when the internal communication network breaks down caused by the neurotransmitters not working properly.
Above are some of the causes that result in excessive anxiety but as I mentioned before there is one little organ in the brain that is 100% responsible for all anxiety disorders. This organ is called the Amygdala.
An organ that maybe you mightn’t have even known existed, never mind that it caused you so much worry and fear, but an organ you will grow to love as you find out how to work with it and use it to get rid of any anxiety disorder for good
HOW YOU CAN ELIMINATE ANXIETY FOR GOOD
To eliminate anxiety forever you must first know where it comes from and if you read the piece just above this one you will now know that the root of all things anxiety related stems from this little organ in the brain known as the Amygdala.
The Amygdala is an almond sized, and shaped, brain structure and has long been linked with a person’s mental and emotional state, so what I am telling you is not some new age thinking or anything like that. It is more relevant to us now however because thanks to scientific advances researchers are beginning to fully grasp how vitally important this little organ is in relation to our well being and complete peace of mind.
Think about this for a minute, “It stands to reason then, that if you could talk to the Amygdala directly and alter its reaction that would cure you, correct?”. I took this quote from the homepage of The Linden Method. This is the program I used myself in the hopes that I could finally beat my anxiety disorder that had already ruined so much of my life.
What The Linden Method does is it targets the amygdala and through various exercises and techniques you work with the Amygdala and you begin to bring about a change in this little organ resulting in a change of thinking and eventually complete and utter freedom in any anxiety disorder you may be experiencing now. I know this because the last line you read comes from my first hand experience of the program.
