Heart attack is a leading killer across all parts of the world. People are frightened of this ghost called heart attack and measure their lifestyle as per the guidelines provided to prevent heart failure, because when the heart fails it’s the end of your precious life. Hence it is very important for us to know how heart attack occurs.rnThe muscles of the heart need oxygen to survive. A heart attack occurs when the blood flow that is responsible to supply oxygen to the heart muscle is drastically reduced or completely stopped. This is due to the thickening and hardening of the arteries due to the accumulation of fatty materials, cholesterol and other plaque. Plaque take years to accumulate inside the coronary walls and builds up a rigid covering blocking oxygen from entering in, ultimately this rigid plaque breaks down resulting into a blood clot that may result in heart failure (In French insuffisance cardiaque).

If the clot is large it would completely block the flow of blood into your heart, a smaller clot would slow down the flow of oxygen into your heart. This eventually damages your heart muscles and if the blood flow is not restored the muscle would be die due to lack of oxygen and could result in heart attack (In French attaque cardiaque).

There are a number of problems that are related to heart attack. Heart failure and irregular heartbeats are a couple of them. Specially Heart failure, it is a condition in which the heart is unable to pump enough blood throughout the body, if not treated fast enough, it would result into death of the person.

Most of the time people think that things such as smoking, being overweight or eating foods high in cholesterol, junk food, very oily food that is rich in fat can cause heart attack. This is very true but the heart can weaken without any such things also and such a condition is known as idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy this condition causes congestive heart failure if not taken seriously.

There are various other reasons that are also responsible to cause heart failure High Blood Pressure or hypertension is yet another important reason, high blood pressure is a condition when the rate of the force of blood pumped by your heart through your arteries is very high. When your blood pressure is high then your heart has to work harder and that can cause heart failure.
