Since I am not a dentist and have not been to dental school, I can tell you that your dentist can give you many more details on what kinds of dental periodontal diseases there are and what the difference is between different types of dental periodontal diseases. However, this article will cover some of the basic dental information about periodontal diseases. If you think that you have a dental periodontal disease you should contact a dentist immediately for dental services to get back to dental health as soon as possible.  rnDental periodontal diseases infect the oral tissues around the teeth. The oral tissues around teeth become inflamed with dental periodontal diseases. A dentist will inform you that main cause of periodontal disease is the build-up of dental plaque and dental tartar, especially the build-up on the teeth underneath the dental gum line. Dental plaque and dental tartar will irritate the oral tissues and cause them to inflame. The number one thing that a dental patient can do to prevent dental periodontal diseases is to have dental plaque and dental tartar removed routinely by a professional dentist and dentistry team.  rnYou may ask, whats so serious about inflamed oral tissue? First of all, a dentist will be the first to tell you that dental periodontal diseases can be very uncomfortable and if not taken care of, very painful. But, the worst part about dental periodontal diseases is when a dentist sees dental patients who havent taken the proper dental preventative care measures and dental periodontal disease causes tooth loss and bone infection.  rnA dentist prevents periodontal diseases such as gingivitis, Periodontitis, Vincents infection or trench mouth. Periodontal diseases can also lead to oral cancer. A dentist can help prevent all of these dental diseases. A dentist can also provide treatment and repair these dental diseases.  rnThe most common and minor of dental periodontal disease is gingivitis which is a swelling of the gingivae or oral tissue (the dental gums). A dentist or dental patient can spot gingivitis if the oral tissue around teeth are swollen and bleed easily. Dental treatment for gingivitis performed by a dentist is the removal of calculus (a dark dental plaque/tartar) and dental removal of plaque. Treatment for gingivitis also includes a dentist informing their dental patient how to better care for their dental health. Gingivitis can be avoided and treated by simply brushing and flossing teeth correctly and regularly (twice a day). A dentist may also show their dental patient how to massage the oral tissue with a tooth brush.  rnPeriodontitis is a dental disease that is caused by gingivitis, but is in the more advanced stages, when gingivitis goes without treatment or the care of a dentist. Periodontitis is when all the oral tissues surrounding and supporting the teeth become infected and inflamed. Gingivitis is when just the upper part of the oral tissue is infected. Periodontitis destroys the bone sockets that support the teeth. In this case a dentist may have to remove teeth for the dental patient.
