Complete blockage of bilateral vas deferens (from testicular reticulum to ejaculatory duct) can cause azoospermia for any reason. According to statistics, clogged azoospermia accounts for about 55% of the causes of azoospermia.

What are the causes of vasectomy?

1) Infection of genitourinary system, such as epididymitis, prostatitis, seminal vesiculitis or epididymal tuberculosis of the vas deferens, causes obstruction of the vas deferens, especially in the junction of the epididymis and the vas deferens.

2) Tumors: Vas deferens itself has tumors or adjacent organs, such as epididymal tumors, seminal cyst tumors, prostate tumors, etc., can cause obstruction of vas deferens.

3) Congenital malformations: congenital hypoplasia of vas deferens or discontinuity of vas deferens and epididymis, hypoplasia of epididymis, vas deferens or seminal vesicle, etc.

4) Injuries: such as hernia repair, varicocele, spermatic cord tumor surgery, etc. can injure the vas deferens; epididymal seminal cyst, testicular sheath effusion surgery, can injure the epididymis;

Prostate surgery can cause obstruction of ejaculatory orifice, or even without direct injury, but the formation of infection, adhesion and scar after operation can make the vas deferens compressed and obstructed.
