Fish oil contains Omega 3 fatty acids and is an additive that is highly beneficial to health. Fish oil has demonstrated positive benefits for the heart, helps in preventing heart problems, and reduces high blood cholesterol. Besides its beneficial actions it has on the heart, fish oil protects the body from various diseases – some cancer diseases, arthritis and high blood pressure. It also has a good effect on eyesight, nervous system and the brain cells. All this is achieved because it contains two essential fatty acids. Those are defined as essential fatty acids because they are not produced by our organism and must be accepted through food or supplements. Although it is preferable to get fish oil from food, it is also advisable to take fish oil from supplements as then it is purified of toxins and organic mercury.
Besides fish and fish oil, there are other natural sources of omega 3 – flaxseed, walnuts, soybeans and many vegetable oils. Below are some of the benefits of fish oil.
Fish oil improves the cardiovascular system – omega 3 fatty acids in fish oil help to lower bad cholesterol and also help to increase the beneficial cholesterol.
Fish oil prevents blood clotting – the accumulation of fatty deposits in artery walls can cause thrombosis of blood clots in the blood vessels. When this happens in the brain, it can lead to stroke and when it happens in the artery of the heart, it leads to heart attack. According to a study, omega 3 fatty acids help the variance of these clots before they cause damage to the body.
Fish oil helps to reduce inflammation and pain – fish oil has many beneficial effects on the inflammatory reactions of the body and that way it relieves and even prevents diseases such as arthritis, cystitis and others. Studies show that the inflammation of the joints in people suffering arthritis can lead to stiffness and pain, which can be eliminated with the consumption of fish oil. That is because omega 3 helps to ‘’crush’’ the cartilage in joints.
Fish oil helps to improve brain function – it was found that omega 3 fatty acids could help in correcting the functioning of the brain, can improve the memory and strengthen the concentration. As a matter of fact, according to clinical trials, it was found that fish oil helps in training and development of language skills in children suffering from Asperger’s syndrome.
Last but not least, may be one of the most important functions of fish oil is the prevention of cancer. It has been shown that omega 3 found in fish oil helps in preventing prostate cancer, breast cancer and colon.
Make sure that you supply your organism with vitamins in order to keep in shape and be healthy.
