What Do You Do After a Major Accomplishment?

You’ve been putting in hours and resources into this project. The day finally comes when you are going to present it. And now it’s finally over. What do you do after? Do you celebrate? Do you go take a bath? Do you meditate and thank your spiritual team for being there for you? Do you beat yourself up for thinking it didn’t go as well as you had hoped for? Me? I clean. I clean because, not only has my house not seen a broom and a duster in like, weeks, but also because cleaning takes my focus away from analyzing my performance, the attachments to the outcome, and reminds me of the simple things in life. As I was sweeping today, after the culmination of my awesome call to help women awaken to their wise heart leader within, I began to see how that applied to my life. As the floors became a little shinier and the furniture a little more polished, I saw how giving myself a break from disconnecting from all the work I had been engaged in, served as a way to dust off the debris of stress, expectations, self-judgment, and attachments I had been accumulating as I was working on this project. Don’t get me wrong, the project itself is AMAZING, but the process was grueling at times, as I had to fight my tendency to get distracted easily, to doubt myself, and to keep detached from the attachments and expectations of what I’m hoping I’ll accomplish. What if taking time to nourish oneself actually created a lot more room for creativity to emerge? What if sweeping the floors and polishing the furniture gave you an outlet to clean the dusts and debris that have been accumulating internally, and have not been allowing you to see your beautiful light, just like the dust on the furniture hid the beautiful wood underneath it? This is not so much about encouraging to go clean your house, but to encourage you to wipe off the internal dust, so that you can see the wise heart leader within. So how can you begin to polish your life? • First, CHOOSE! You have to choose to do it, otherwise it’ll be an arduous chore that you’re simply taking on because someone said you should (and this includes that evil little voice inside your head.) • Second, LOVE yourself! Cleaning house is not always fun, but when you know you’re doing it because you love how sparkly your stove looks, it makes it more enjoyable. The same goes for cleaning internally – it’s not always fun, especially when we’re dealing with a lot of emotional crud, but doing it with self-love, knowing that you’re cleaning the space for your wise heart leader to emerge, makes it much more easy. • Third, HONOR yourself! When you begin to honor yourself and your experiences, you begin to appreciate the challenges you have faced, and may be facing. You’re not leaving anything behind. Instead you’re shedding light on it all. It’s like cleaning behind the fridge. It’s really hard to get back there, but when you do, you’re able to see what has been piling up. When you honor your experiences and your stories, you can now let them go for they have served a purpose. And now you get to sit in that beautiful, sparkly, freshly cleaned home and enjoy the fruits of your labor. And inside you get to sit with the beautiful YOU that you are, knowing that now you can start creating again for there is more light and brightness in your heart and mind. By the way, want to see the culmination of my work? Well, it’s actually just starting, but there was a lot of time and resources put into it to get it to here, and I’m proud of it! www.wiseheartleader.com
