What Do You Put Your Trust In?

When storms in life come, whether it is financial, emotional or physical, where do you turn? It is interesting because when things are going well, there is no need to question the very things that we lean on or where put our trust. However, it is when those foundations are shaken that we see if they are a sure place for our trust and confidence. Many people ask why does the Lord allow trouble or hardship to come upon us. Well one reason maybe to test the very things that we trust in to reveal to us their validity or strength. The Lord has given us promises that during those hard and difficult times that He will be a place of refuge and strength for us. There are times when He allows us to go through travail to reveal His strength and HIs ability to care for us during those difficult times. He desires to show us that we are not alone and that He will take care of us and bring us through to the other side. In addition to providing us refuge and strength, the Lord gathers us unto Himself to comfort and encourage our struggling hearts. He desires to reveal to us His purposes and plans during this time. He also picks us up when we are discouraged and weary from the journey. He gives us eyes to see the bigger picture and not just the obstacles that are standing in front of us in that moment. The Lord desires to increase our faith to believe in Him as our Lord and Saviour in all things. It is also during this time that the Lord reveals Himself as our compass. He gives us direction and guidance in how to maneuver through the difficult times. As we trust Him, he also pours forth His grace upon us to carry us through the heartache. It is during hardship that the Lord is continually beckoning us to lift our eyes and to place them on Him, not our circumstances. Our answers do not come from human reasoning, they come from revelation, God's revelation. He will be our everything if we learn to lean on Him and be dependent on Him for our needs. The Lord will never disappoint those who faith is in Him. By trusting in Him, we will see our needs met and when hardships come, we can be assured and confident that the Lord will carry us through.
