A General Physician is a family physician or doctor. It is responsible for diagnosing and caring for patients in routine cases, and usually refers people to specialists when specific treatments are required. Family physicians must have a medical degree and license

Sometimes some people when they get sick right away go to a specialist doctor. Thus, if they suddenly have a headache or stomach pain they go to the neurologist or the gastroenterologist, however, this is not always the right way.

It is advisable to go, in the first instance, with a General Physician in Lahore. This is the first contact with simple conditions such as:

Common cold

Headache and stomach pain

Bumps and sprains.

It also performs simple procedures to treat conditions that appear in stages ranging from childhood to old age.

Another of the cases where the presence of a General Physician is necessary is in the care of chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. These need continuous control, so the doctor is in charge of ensuring that the patient always has medicine to control them. Likewise, he will be the one who orders laboratory tests for surveillance.

Now, when to go to a specialist doctor? This is decided by the General Physician, since when he diagnoses a more complex condition it is when he refers the patient to a specialist.

Work environment

Most of the time, family physicians work in private practices, unlike many other specialists who may work in private practices or in hospital settings. This means that the family doctor is usually his own boss. Some doctors work in clinics with other doctors or are part of a network of medical offices. Their practices usually consist of small offices or areas within a larger building. Doctors usually have a base staff made up of receptionists and nurses who assist them.

First contact

Typically, family physicians are the first contact for patients when they feel ill or suffer a simple injury. Doctors usually maintain a stable group of patients who seek them out when they have minor illnesses or injuries. At the initial visit, the family physician makes the diagnosis of the patient's condition using simple procedures. He then decides how to treat the patient and whether to refer him to a specialist for more detailed care.

Treatment

When the General Physician is directly involved in the treatment plan, it is usually in simple cases. Guiding patients to self-care and prescribing medications are two ways that family physicians actively treat their patients. He may, for example, recommend that a patient suffering from back pain use a heated mattress for a certain part of the day. He may also prescribe a pain reliever medicine.

Continuous care

For patients dealing with chronic or ongoing health problems, the General Physician is the one to help manage their care. Some patients need regular check-ups so the doctor can monitor their condition and determine if it has improved or worsened. Others need to have their medications re-evaluated. Family physicians typically help stock patients with medications. When necessary, the doctor orders blood tests or other laboratory tests to support the initial diagnosis and evaluate the patient's condition.
